Stage 1
Arlon to Orval
Railway path out of Arlon, Lake Conchibois and the old Montauban forges, finishing among the abbey ruins at Orval.
Bike Route
From Arlon, around the abbeys, and back to Arlon.
The route is published on Komoot as six stages through the Belgian Ardennes and the French Meuse. We've rented a touring bike and an e-bike for it from Bike-Packer in Brussels, and we'll carry our own panniers. These figures are worked out from the GPX tracks themselves.

Stage 1
Railway path out of Arlon, Lake Conchibois and the old Montauban forges, finishing among the abbey ruins at Orval.
Stage 2
The longest day. A Roman site at Chameleux, Bouillon's castle at about halfway, then the Semois valley over the French border.
Stage 3
Up out of the Meuse to the star fort at Rocroi and Scourmont Abbey, then a flat 25 km of railway path to the lakes.
Stage 4
The easiest day, with a few unpaved sections. Across the Plate Taille dam to Maredsous, then tunnels down the Molignée valley to the Meuse.
Stage 5
The Lesse valley and Château de Vêves, a short stretch of pushing on a rough forest path, Rochefort for lunch, and a long climb to the plateau.
Stage 6
East through the Haute-Sûre nature park and home along the Luxembourg border, past the old cast-iron boundary markers.
